Some "things" I have been doing

Some of the 23 things I have been using for quite a while. Some of the online media (from things 18 & 19) I have been involved in, including YouTube. In the Boardgame community, there's a lot of Web 2.0 going on. There are several great podcasts on boardgaming, and fair share of videos out there. I use these to keep up with what's new in one of my favorite hobbies.

The Dice Tower is the best podcast I've found on boardgaming, and one that I've subscribed to. The podcast is produced every other week, and clocks in around 1.5 hours long. It's put on by two Missionaries serving in Korea - one a minister, the other a missionary of Christian education.

As far as my own use, I've posted videos on YouTube. Currently, I have a video on there of a segment a boardgamer friend had on Austin's Cities on the Move show (on PBS). He talks about his favorite boardgaming system. Check it out Here!

In exploring some of the library themed podcasts and videos, I found the IT vs Librarian video quite good, even coming from the IT side!

Now & then? Here or there?

Timeshifting! Call it "Tivoing", DVR, or even the old VCR term taping... In this computer age, taking control of what you watch - and when has been a great solution to the problem of missing your favorite show in that one hour that it's actually on.

I couldn't tell you what time half the shows I watch are actually on. I just know that there's usually some recorded show that is available for me to watch. Busy as everyone is (my family included!), we don't have to worry about missing a show, and we don't have to dedicate a full hour to watch our favorite program.

These days, DVRs can record our favorite shows in High Definition, they can keep hundreds of hours worth of programming.

1st thing! (of 23)

The secondary purpose of this blog is to complete the "23 things" Library 2.0 program. The creation of this blog constitutes completion of thing 1.

Personally, many of things will come naturally to me as a tech person, although some of will really break new ground. (Mostly things that are specific to library 2.0)

So it begins....

Since this is the first post, I feel I should explain the intended focus of this blog. I'm a technology buff, as well as a media enthusiast, and this blog will mainly be sharing thoughts, struggles, and ideas on ways for me to get my media fix.

Also, as a huge board game fan and advocate, you will be seeing various musings about the board game community.
